VIDEO: Not Feeling the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette's Vents? There's Plenty Of Good Reasons For Them...
As I've been keeping an eye out for criticism and fallout after the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette's debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, I've noticed that it seems to be a pretty polarizing exterior design. It's just about 50/50 in terms of love it or hate it, with most of the haters already being 'Vette haters for quite some time.

What I have noted is that a lot of folks seem to be put off by the all-new Corvette's venting. The funny thing is though it's all functional. This isn't like the Lexus IS-F with its silly fake side "vent" and fake exhaust tips — while I dig the IS-F it would have been much better without making it so easy to hate those little details.

That said, General Motors put together a nice little clip making note of the Corvette's wind tunnel testing and the functions of its vents. Take a peek behind the scenes...

The 2014 Stingray exemplifies stunning exterior design. Distinct aeronautical lines. Intricate ventilation systems. A sleek, sculpted finish. See how purposeful aerodynamic design yields a fully functional exterior and a totally new breathing experience.

uh oh... you bashed the IS-F and it's gimmick styling. Japanengineering will beg to differ on the latest and greatest ricer.

I have to say though, I loved the IS-F. Great noise when that dual inlet intake opens up and it was a blast to drive.

It's just silly to ruin a perfectly good vehicle with gimmicks when it doesn't need them. At all.

And just think how much more fun it would be with a performance power plant? I liked the previous version but this new one just doesn't make sense. Lexus has a serious identity crisis.

These types of videos are always 100% BS. Dark rimmed glasses and pensive expressions aren't going to make these vents less silly.
