The No. 01 Ganassi Racing BMW/Riley prototype shared by Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Juan Pablo Montoya and Charlie Kimball won comfortably the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Sunday.

The car started the race on pole, led 421 of 709 laps and experienced no major issues in 2013′s first race of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season. This was Ganassi’s fifth win in the last eight years and the fifth for Pruett, who now shares the most overall wins in the Rolex 24 with Hurley Haywood.

“It’s just an incredible day all around. Having gotten to know Hurley real well over the years by racing with him and just as a friend, and to have him there at the end was pretty special, very special thing,” Pruett was quoted as saying by Motorsport.com. Pruett was met by Haywood in victory lane after the race.

The race was a disappointment, obviously the guy with the biggest team and deepest pocket won (Chip Ganassi/Felix Sabates Team). Nothing new here. Except for when making pit stops, the 01 car led the entire 24 hours. The field was weak, besides the prototypes, only 1 regular Corvette, 1 M3, 1 Camaro, 1 Viper and 1 Mustang on the field. Everything else was either an AUDI or Porsche.
Bunch of great cars in the infield though, the PCA had a great variety as usual.

I go to college right by the speedway, and holy crap, hearing these for 24 hrs is extremely annoying. If I weren't so poor, I would've actually watched the race.

lexusrox123 if I haven't transferred from work and still living in JAX next year, please let me know and I will get you in. Anyone who is a car fan needs to experience this at least once.
Are you in Embry Riddle?

Yup, doing engineering at Riddle. It'd be great if I could go watch the Rolex next year. Thanks for the offer!
