Is Kia Moving Upscale With Luxury A Crossover?
Someone put a leash on Kia… Only weeks after the presentation of the new North American market Cadenza mid-size sedan at the Detroit auto show, and days after it announced the new Cee'd and Pro_Cee'd GT sport hatchbacks, and the Urban Concept for the upcoming Geneva Salon in March, the South Korean automaker revealed plans for the world premiere of yet another study.

Teased in this single rendering, is Kia's new Cross GT, a conceptual proposal for a mid-size, premium crossover that will be formally introduced at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, which will be open to the press February 7-8, and to the public February 9-18.

The Hyundai/KIA concepts are always interesting to me. Hyundai has always maintained that their lineup is the "upscale" line of vehicles while the KIA lineup is for the entry-level/mainstream buyer.

Lately, Hyundai seems sportier in overall design execution while KIA vehicles seem more upscale. I know the Genesis models fall under Hyundai - which could be their own luxury brand/lineup - but the rest of the lineup is "swoopy, sporty" cars and SUVs.

And looking at the lastest concepts, KIA seems to be the business-class luxury line.
