Could BMW Pull Off A Production Version M9 Sports Coupe?
This is one independent designers take on what a BMW M9 sports coupe could look like even though the automaker has no intention of building it. For now.
BMW has gradually expanded its lineup over the past few years, paying close attention to rolling out as many as SUVs as possible. While that's all fine and good when it comes to making bank, M performance division enthusiasts are always game to see more sports cars instead of M-badged SUVs. Perhaps that's why Radion Design created what he envisions a potential M9 performance coupe could look like. Its front-end design is distinctly BMW with the twin kidney grille complemented by LED headlights.

It looks nice, but would be a mistake. Too closely aligned in styling to several Aston Martins. But, man, that slinky front-end, despite the gapped-tooth look, looks seductive as hell.

I'd rather they focus their energy on getting the 135M coupe right. Who needs an even larger and heavier car than the 6 series?

This M9 reminds me of this concept from Acura.

Beautiful. Simple interior without electronic overload, twin turbo 4.4L V-8, $125,000 price range. Would be nice.

This vehicle with the 4.4lt twin turbo ///M motor and a dual cluth box would be incredible!
At the moment Audi and Merc are making money with models that BMW has no direct competitor to - Come on BMW!!!
Very good attempt - We are just loosing the classic BMW identification marks:
1. Classic C-Pillar styling at the rear of the side windows.
2. The Grill does not make a good impression - The Kidney spacing is too far apart and does not fill the front properly.
3. Tail-lights need to be bigger and more visible - LEDs are bright, but must also be highly visible during the day.

They could but shouldn't -
BMW's talent lies in infusing vehicles with sportiness - In my opinion this skill is most successfully applied to vehicles that lack sportiness inherently - SUVs and Sedans. I would support BMW making a McLaren fighter. Something using composite materials, under 3,000 lbs (a huge hurdle for BMW), a smaller turbo V8 4.0 liters or less. Use less sound proofing, and bag the dashboard that used across the whole lineup. This would be a proper successor to the M1. Don't forget BMW designed and built the original McLaren F1 engine and the F1 engine from the early 80s that produced over 1000 hp from a 4 cylinder. I have a 13' BMW and I simply feel that BMW's racing roots have gradually been withering.... The car pictured above looks like it might be a heavy, numb, fast offering much like the current M5,6,xxx
- as an aisde, I was and still am hoping that the push for fuel efficiency will force BMW to start producing lighter cars. Once lightened, there could easily be a snowball effect to make the cars much much more soleful and fun... :) - fingers crossed
