Hyundai Officials In Shock After Toyota Camry Named 2013 Korean Car Of The Year
An hour before the awards ceremony was set to begin, Toyota Korea was informed that its Camry would be crowned the 2013 Korea Car of the Year.

It was a stunning feat for a foreign brand ? it was unprecedented for an imported car to grab the honor ? and especially for Toyota which had stood resilient against the widespread doubt that had shrouded the release of the vehicle last January.

Toyota had pretty much known that its hybrid compact Prius would win the “green car” award, but did not expect the Camry to do so well.

My Korean friends won't touch Korean cars, opting for Ford, Jeep, German and Japanese, so why would the ones overseas be any different?

Just like with most of their exports, they're meant for us cheapies, not for their home market.

...Bottom line here is that why in the world does Hyndai think somehow they actually build cars to compete neck and neck with the Japanese, namely Toyota? Even the average joe blow by default knows a Hyndai or Kia anything is not on the same level as a friggin Toyota!! Give me a break!!!!!!!!

IF this were 1999 you'd be correct...
TODAY Hyundai quality at least equals Toyota's and when value/cost is factored in, Hyundai is clearly superior :)

Toyota has stood the test of time. Yes quality has gone done as of recent years (recalls). However Toyota's are known to last 100's of thousands miles.

Kia and Hyundai has been selling cars in the U.S. as of the late 80's early 90's maybe even longer, however they've been known to make cheap affordable cars. Until recently last 5 years or so they started to build design cars that would compete with Japanese offerings, however only time will tell if their cars are as good as the Japanese offerings, when the public starts to see Hyundai's and Kia's lasting 100, 200, 300 thousand miles. Then Hyundai and Kia will be up in the running for sure
