Meet the first Arab supercar – W Motors Lykan Hypersport
The very first Arab supercar, the so-called W Motors Lykan Hypersport, has recently made its public debut during the 2013 Qatar Motor Show.
Rich Arabs are mostly known for their love in cars but rather than seeing Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti or Aston Martin supercars on the roads of the United Arab Emirates, we will now see a locally made vehicle, named the W Motors Lykan Hypersport. If you hope that basically an unknown supercar would be cheap, you’re so wrong, because the pricing of the model has been set at 3.4 million USD.

“Qatar is a perfect place to launch it because it’s a country that loves what we’re doing”, said the W Motors co-founder, Sari El Khalil. “We are choosing our customers carefully. It’s the first Arab car, we want Arabs driving our car. We’ve gotten interest from India, we’ve gotten interest from Moscow”, he added.

The W Motors Lykan Hypersport is powered by a mid-mounted twin turbo flat six-cylinder engine, which is producing a total output of 750 HP and it has a peak torque of 737 lb-ft. This is enough to allow the supercar to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 245 mph. Prices for the model start at 3.4 million USD.

My two gripes about it is the panel gaps which are both on the front and rear quarters and the wheel welds/ arches where the tires meet. And the ridiculous top speed of a flat six twin turbo motor. The AMS GT-R is faster than the Veyron, but I seriously doubt it can reach it's top speed at a sustainable level. Other than that I love it.
