RENDERED SPECULATION: If Maserati's Ghibli Looks Like THIS Way, Will YOU Give It A Thumbs UP or DOWN?

RENDERED SPECULATION: If Maserati's Ghibli Looks Like THIS Way, Will YOU Give It A Thumbs UP or DOWN?
If we were to measure which automaker was the most ambitious, we'd have to say it is, undoubtedly, Maserati. That's because it is planning to expand its output exponentially. Considering all of its products cost upwards of $100,000 how is Maserati planning to do this?

That, my friends, is where the Ghibli comes in.

Set to go up against the likes of Audi's A6, BMW's 5-Series, Lexus' GS, Mercedes-Benz's E-Class and the rest of the usual suspects, the Ghibli would bring Maseratis to a whole new class of buyer.

Now for the first time an artist has come forward with one of the initials renderings featuring the upcoming Ghibli. If it looks like THIS, what say YOU?

The answer is "NO" because didn't they just partner up with Chrysler?

Front looks like the G37.

looks good, but wouldn't it compete with quattroporte?

btw, for anyone who hasn't seen it before, google-image the maserati ghibli 2. imho, it may be the pinaccle of 80's/90's boxy styling (which i love).

Looks the way it ought to. Thumbs up on styling; certainly as elegant and sporty looking as its competition. But the name is terrible. Google "ghibli" -- yep... at least it's not the Maserati Disney.

Front wheel drive layout, so no.

It will not be front wheel drive. It is rumored to share a platform with the Chrysler 300...which is rear wheel drive.

This is probably the best design mock up of a Maserati I've seen in a long, long time and certainly much better than any of the ugly, disjointed cars in their current lineup.

For the older folks who can afford one Maserati has to first convince them that its quality, reliability and service costs have improved substantially over its past failures before considering a purchase. A tough challenge here in USA.

Sciros-Ghibli is a very historical name for Maserati. The Ghibli was a front engined V8 performance Coupe that came out in the late 60's. Many have commented it was one of the most beautiful shapes ever to come out of a car maker. It competed with the Ferrari Daytona. However it was more of a GT car good for fast dashes accross the European continent then an out and out sports car.The Ghibli in this iteration is a 4 Dr sedan but more 5 series sized than 7 series like the Quattroporte. The shape appears to be a bit more aggressive. Further down the road it may spawn a Ghibli Coupe.

I don't think we would see a ghibli coupe. It might steal sales away from the granturismo

Ghibli. So is Totoro going to be the car's mascot?
