Volkwagen Ad Rated In Top 5 WORST Super Bowl Commercials, But Was It Really Racist?

VW got a place in the top 5 worst Super Bowl commercials with its ‘Get Happy’ ad, which was considered racist.

Companies spend millions of dollars to have their commercials aired during the Super Bowl game, the most-watched television show every year, paying from $3.7 million to $3.8 million for 30 seconds of commercial time. A total of 30 companies paid $300 million for commercials during the game, a golden opportunity for the advertisers to reach the masses.

This year Go Daddy got the first two spots in the top 5 worst Super Bowl commercials. The first place was taken by the ‘Perfect Match’ ad featuring the beautiful model Bar Rafaeli, Leonardo DiCaprio ex-girlfriend, who is passionately kissing a nerd named Walter. The message of the ad is ‘When sexy meets smart your small business scores’, but it doesn’t really matter as by the time the message appears on the screen viewers are already too grossed out by the long, wet, noisy kiss.

Why is it that Toyota has the highest number of recalls of ANY automaker in the past year? yet they claim to have the best reliability? Everyone assumes Japanese as high quality... I heard there was talk about a racist ad, and I prayed to God they weren't black. But not only are they black, they are the black culture I Know!!! As a Jamaican I found it hilarious. I absolutely don't get someone impersonating an accent in a positive way (and a pretty good impersonation too I might add) as negative. If nothing else it puts or tiny little country on the map. Let it be known that this is not how all of us feel.

....I do like the backend of that red VW Bettle w/ the chrome dual exhaust tips, but would give it to my daughter to make a few beach trips and trust me, she would take it right over to the nearest Toyota dealership, trade it in for a TOYOTA!!!!

It wasn't racist. As stated above, there are white (Caucasian) Jamaicans too. The part that was BEYOND stupid was that in the end they stated that "That's the power of GERMAN engineering". WTF? Germans make you Jamaican happy? Yea, no one thought that through.

On a side note: Most of fellas in the room (know me as the car guy) asked me what it was about that Beetle that didn't look girly. They didn't know there was a new Beetle out and that was it. They said it was kind of nice. I didn't ask what they thought it was but I'm assuming they thought it was a trim package. They probably would have lost interest if I went into car ramble mode.
