BMW To Bring M8 Sports Car To Market In 2016 - Should The Italians Be Worried?
The German based automaker BMW is planning to develop a new mid-engined supercar which will hit the market in 2016.

Originally known as the M1, the new mid-engined supercar which will be developed by BMW is now known internally as the M8 and the model will see daylight for the first time in 2016, just in time to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. The BMW M8 will use carbon fiber, aluminum and other lightweight materials in order to improve its performance and maneuverability. The same underpinnings from the i8 plug-in hybrid will probably be used on the M8.

Plan on buying one? Or just so lounge chair "enthusiasts" can use it in fantasy comparisons. I think cars like the M3, and upcoming M2 are just fine, and represents the brands core values the best..No doubt it will be a great car, but I don't think an M8 necessary.

Big BMW fan and owner (8) but they have never built a sports car that the Italians or Porsche ever had to worry about. They have a lot of catching up to do.

BMW should keep it simple and priced right. The 4.4L twin turbo engine, "retro" interior without all the electronic gadgets, more tourer than sport. Recently caught the movie "The Score" with DeNiro. He drives a black 850i. What a beautiful design. BMW, think more about Bentley comfort and less about Porsche speed.

I don't think anyone would need to worry if it's styled like either the photo or the photos in the article. Both are pretty uninspired for "exotic cars".

What? Another Beemer car that looks just like every other car they make. Beemer has to get some creativity and some cosmetic distance between each model. Their entire line up is starting to look like the product of severe inbreeding.
