Would have thought movement between companies would have gone the other way...BMW M to Mercedes AMG. What this likely means is that BMW planning many more M division cars and experienced chassis men are hard to find.

I hope it's that and not turning the M's into one-trick-pony cars focused on a big motor and little else.

MB's AMG offerings are no longer big cars with big engines that can't handle. They can handle with the best of them and they keep getting better. In recent comparisons, the E63 outhandled the M5 and S6. The SL63 outhandled the M6. The CLS63 bested both the M5 and M6 in C&D's Fastest Lap comparison results, with the E63 from two or three years ago not far behind, so the updated model should best that result. The C63, despite having some powertrain issues, essentially tied the M3 in R&T's comparison track times and was not far behind the M3's time in C&D's Fastest Lap results. Not to mention the C63 AMG Black Series was 2nd to the 911 in M&T's Best Driving comparison and bested any other model from any car from BMW or Audi, in addition to the Panamera Turbo S, in C&D's Lightning Lap historical times.

I'm feeling positive about this. This could have huge implications across BMW's entire line.

Hopefully he can work his magic on the 1-Series. A factory fresh, 450+ 1M could be very entertaining.

Placed an order last week for the M2 expected in two to three years. Missed out on the 1M because I delayed so I'm all in on this one. With M3/M4's having a turbo charged six cylinder with expected horsepower somewhere between 414-430hp, I expect the M2 will have a turbocharged four cylinder engine with between 325-350hp. It should be like Bimmers of old...small, lighter with great handling. Also had dealer specify he would not put a price premium on my order as I'll get first of his allotment.
