New Viper To Go Topless Sooner Rather Than Later
Chrysler’s all-new fifth-generation ’13 SRT Viper high-performance sports car went on sale in November, and it didn’t take long for the first 800 units to sell out. Customers will start receiving their cars next month.

Brisk demand for the 640-hp 2-seater comes despite a completely new approach to rolling out the car that became an instant halo not only for Dodge but the entire Chrysler group when it came to market in 1995.
For the first time, the Viper isn’t launching initially as a convertible. Four previous generations of the car went on sale as a droptop, to be followed later by fixed-top coupes. This time, the cycle is reversed

Henanamani1. No it won't. In most side by side tests in the past the drivers in the Viper didn't have a happy sack big enough to handle the viper. The vette is getting snake bit! Remember Nurburgring? Dodge Viper 3rd 7:22.10 Vette C6 ZR1 8th 7:26.4

bfghemicuda. Depends on the course. Back in December, Randy Pobst, while testing for Motor Trend, broke the Laguna Seca production car track record with the ZR1 while going head to head with the new Dodge Viper GTS, and by an amazing two seconds on a short track. Same professional driver, same day, same course yet the ZR1 time was 1:33.70, and the Viper was 1:35.77. So on the surface it seems the Viper is a better straight line car while the Corvette corners better and gets the power down earlier.

Terry989, That is true. It should be fun watching these two go to battle. It will be interesting to see how this gen Viper performs compaired to the previous gen.

This is disgraceful. I can't even imagine how mich damage a corovette and a viper would do running next to each other, destroying the air we all breathe. Who wan't a convertible!?!?! Cancer city.

Boo climate change.
