Sales of Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz have jumped 168 percent since 2004 to 33,116 last year, while those of Volkswagen AG's Porsche SE have gained 65 percent, according to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. data compiled by Bloomberg.

I guess Canadians don't care about the JD Powers ranking Toyota as the most reliable brand.

It appears that reliability is only important as a minimum threshold, above which Toyota no longer benefits in the form of additional sales. In other words, as long as any auto company has reliability of less than 150 problems per 100 vehicles, it makes little difference to sales. People already assume that Toyota/Lexus & Honda are 100% reliable, but that's been the accepted truth for the last 20 years, and yet VW still sells their unreliable and over priced cars like crazy

all cars are remarkably reliable. but according to you, a car with 1.12 problems per car (toyota) is simply amazing and a car with 1.74 problems per car is a piece of garbage. lol.

please explain how .62 problems per car is the difference between life and death?

and did you ever think that people consider MORE THAN ONE FACTOR when buying a car. things like design, handling, engine, seats, technology...all things that toyota really sucks at doing.

They save their money better than us, they also seem to keep their cars longer too. Lots of p.o.s.' driving around in Niagara. Then again, I'm sure they have their fair share of stupid people too.

Probably all stock brokers.
