EXCLUSIVE: Is this the next Saab 9-5

Is this the next Saab 9-5? We all know how GM ruined Saab after taking them over. Will this 2008 Saab 9-5 bring back those wanted customers?

If Saab left GM and merged with a company like Volvo or Ford would the brand survive? I think so.

This is just an Illustration of what Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld thinks the next 9-5 will look like.

The Saab lineup is striving; it consists of an 8 year old 9-5 design, a 5 year old 9-3 design, a Subaru with console ignition and a pathetic GMT-360 SUV.

We can all agree that GM has nearly killed the brand in the last few years. Let's see if they turn it around now. I think they will.

Expect it to be similiar to this. Methinks the artist is being a bit optimistic with the coupe profile, but we shall see. Good to see Saab want to bring back the wrap-around windscreen.

Ironic that this rendering uses Alfa Romeo door handles......

Man, that thing has some constrasting angles. The Mitsu Colt and Nissan Micra convertibles at the bottom look more interesting, though.

I get so tired of hearing about how GM ruined Saab, how Ford ruined Jag. Let's face it--if it wasn't for GM or Ford, those two brands wouldn't even be here.

I think the current Saab's are great cars.

Saab's do offer a distinction as a premium front driver, and yes thanks to GM they are still out there! I think they need to be more competitive with a new line-up of engines for US Shores.

AudiMan4 you are right. If GM and Ford weren't here we would definitely see these brands leave the US. I think the 9-5 may still be a sedan though. One about the old designs, if you are a struggling company it will actually help sales if you can redesign cars faster. Saab may have been more successful if it would have redesigned cars faster, because this gets attention to the brand. Also more commercials won't hurt either.
