Why doesn't Lamborghini or Ferrari make a sub 60k sports car to compete with the Boxter? Their profits would be through the roof. They need to make me the CEO of some of these companies, 80K Rolls Royce, 25k Porsche these cars would be cash cows.

It isn't always about money as it is about brand prestige. As a current Mercedes owner I really do not feel like Mercedes sounds like a brand as privileged as it was 20 years ago. There was once a saying... "Owning a Mercedes was a sign indicating you have finally made it." That would no longer be the case if Ferrari started down marketing their brand in order to compete with sub-par names. Luckily they have CEO's who know how to keep their brand recognized as a high-tier brand.

Are you saying that Porsche is a sub-par brand? I think it says more about a brand if they can build great 60k cars, along with great 1-2-3-400k cars. Any brand can make a great car without a budget, but its the great brands that can make a great car on budget.
