Autobild Gets Hands on 3 Series GT and Touring Models for Side-by-Side Comparison

Autobild is the first to get its hands on the recently revealed 3 Series GT (Gran Turismo) (F34) for a side by side comparison with the 3 Series Touring (F31).

Their conclusion? After scoring several categories, they have the 3GT squeaking by the touring by just one point overall (67 to 66). The GT gets the nod for easier access, better features, usability, and versatility; but loses on cargo loading.

I have to say, that 3GT looks much sleeker than I thought. Compared to the wagon it has more rear passenger space (even more than a 5-Series sedan), plenty of cargo space, and (most importantly to me) you can get it with the 35-series engine. I'm liking this a lot.

I'll take the saloon over either of these any day. Sorry, I am not a fan of wagons, and the GT is an ugly duckling. The trunk on a saloon is good enough for groceries and daily driving. If you really want something that is purpose built for practicality, get a crossover.
