2014 Chevrolet Corvette — Has It GROWN On You Or Does It Still Get Two Thumbs DOWN?
When the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette made it's big-time debut on January 13, the automotive world was set ablaze by a couple of questions:
1) Was its styling an improvement over the outgoing vehicle?
2) Was it "Corvette enough?"
Personally, the more I look at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the more I've come to like it. While it's tough to call any Corvette a revolution — as they're all evolutions of an existing design — this is as close as it gets.
Probably the stickiest point is the vehicle's rear end. Because it has a tall rear-end, Chevrolet put that rear diffuser element that has a large, black piece of composite(?) material on the 'Vette's hind quarters. While some folks hate it, it really has to be there to remove the "visual heft" that would exist if it were painted.
So, we gotta know:
Has the 2014 Corvette's styling grown on you?

I haven't seen one in person yet. That's always the determining factor, what it looks like out on road and in the real world. What I see in the pictures is growing on me, though.

Thumbs down?????????????? This one is going to sell like hot cakes. You know the performance will be there and the body surfacing is incredible. If it looks this good in pictures it is going to be a knockout in person !

I liked it from the first time I saw it, and don't like it any less now.

I think it looks good. A definate improvement. The front is a little Viper-ish but no big deal. I have only heard one comment on the tail lights looking like camaro and there is already a rear kit to change that if wanted. All in all I like it.

I don't like it because I am firmly in the "curves" not "angles" school of sports car design. But that's just me.
However, objectively, the decision to remove the iconic round/oval tailights is a big fail from any standpoint.

I disagree with your point about the tail lights (I think that they look striking, and are a bolder statement that the round ones) but I do respect that you actually have a valid reason for not being too struck by the design of the bodywork(as opposed trmckin, who wasted space commenting about "...the hideous Chevy Corvette" which is nonsense because while it may not be someone's cup of tea, it by no means approaches ugly, never mind hideousness.

I love everything about it except that rear end. Looks completely ungainly to me, and incohesive with the rest of the design. I think Chevy did a great job of taking modern design cues and incorporating them to the Corvette, with the exception of that back end.

Styling is by Mattel("hot-wheels"), but that's okay. I'm sure it will appeal to their targeted buyers. Also, you can't argue with the performance cred/bang for the buck, etc.
I say thanks Chevy, for keeping the flame alive. The world needs Corvettes.

Looks really good. They've incorporated a couple of cues from the old Sting Ray.

i love the car, but still feel the interior isnt a major upgrade. i dont feel this car deserves the stingray name ( they obviously used it for sales and marketing ) still looks like a cheap interior. other than the avg at best interior, and not so great rear, the car is solid and i would definitely get one..
maybe next generation will have the mid engine we all dream about, and drop the crappy automatic for a proper dual clutch transmission.... till then, this will do.

Agreed... GM interiors have been less than good for a while now. I guess that's what they want their identity to be. It's definitely an improvement on the last version but it could be better. I do think the inside is good enough though and won't impede sales.

I like it and the rear I can live with too. I don't know what the fuss is about the round lamps in the rear being dropped because these are still the same just a modern take on them. They went from this OO OO to this << >>.
(if that makes any sense)

PLEASE stop posting photos of the rear of the hideous Chevy Corvette.
The Corvette is HARD on the eyes.

I have always loved the car, but I thought that the time had come for a fresh, bold and more modern look for the Corvette. I still liked the old design and always will, but the 2014 version is gorgeous and I absolutely love it!
