Danica Patrick Silences The Critics With Pole Position For Daytona 500
She says she was brought up to be the fastest driver, not the fastest girl.

On Sunday, none of the boys was faster than the girl.

Danica Patrick became the first woman to win the pole position for the Daytona 500, considered the Super Bowl of NASCAR, posting a lap of 196.434 mph Sunday.

In doing so, she also became the first woman to win a pole at any NASCAR top-division race, racking up another milestone in her barrier-breaking career.

She will silence the critics when she wins a race, anyone can be fast as long as they don't have any cars around them. This is the race than Michael Waltrip (past winner) has been quoted as saying "they can strap a monkey in car and lap the track at close to 200 mph". I guess we will find out next weekend, hopefully she won't wreck have the field like she always does and blame someone else. LoL!

OMG, the grammar! Sorry, I should have taken the time to write the comment. I just think she is overrated.

haven't watched in a while because it's a bit boring. It's one of those sports that best seen in person. However... the way they have cracked down on the teams and made the cars nearly identical makes it dangerous and really just invites problems. When they all run in packs together, it's not racing. It's just surviving and being in the right place at the right time when an accident occurs. I get all the arguments from nascar fans about the reaction times, the endurance required, the strategy and I agree for the most part. It's just been reeled in so far by officials, it's no longer racing in my opinion. Except for maybe the last 2 laps.

I am not surprised you enjoy this wasteful display of resources. To think at one time I thought you were Smart.

Well, I never confused you for having an ounce of intelligence. First line of my post... "haven't watched in a while because it's a bit boring."

NASCAR is as genuine as" professional"wrestling. Do not think they pick winners but contrive the race to put on a "show." "Debris on the track" and cautions to bunch up the field make it boring. One race I watched someone had a punctured tire and was about to enter the pit lane and they called a caution. Then most racers pitted to "bunch up" the field. Just not my type of "racing." F1, LeMans and DTM fan.

Did you see the interior video of her as she crashed into the infield wall? She is a 100% professional.
