OK. For those of you not in the loop, AutoSpies has a really successful demographic of visitors. In fact, a good chunk of our visitors — from the data I can see — shows that a lot of our users are professionals working in finance.

The thing is a lot of the time in finance you may find yourself in the position to lead a new group or department or take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity overseas. And considering that London is arguably the new finance capital of the world, it's not out of the question you could find yourself over there for a few years working in Canary Wharf.

Let's say you did decide to embark on this life changing experience and you were provided the funding to ship ONE domestic vehicle to Europe as your main mode of transportation: What AMERICAN auto would YOU pick to go abroad?

Would you pick something "baller," and gigantic, like a Cadillac Escalade?

What about a muscle car — which actually are loved for the most part — like the Dodge Challenger?

What say you, Spies?

Certainly not the truck pictured above. Petrol prices are a little different than here.

england is not all of europe. it's not even on the continent technically. the other 700 million europeans drive on the same side as the US.

It would have to be a Corvette ZR1. The autobahn would beacon me every single day.

The photo makes me vomit. The idea of importing american gas-guzzler farm wagons into a SmartEuro nation makes me vomit. The only justifyable reason for doing this is to place such vehicles into museums as objects of scorn and ridicule for SmartEuro school children.

Actually Sportbike82, not to be nit-picky but the ram truck is an SRT10 and that was the Diamler days. Today the Rams are Chrysler LLC vehicles eventhough Sergio at Fiat calls the shots. I understand Fiat owns Chrysler but they are still different brands. No one ever called Chrysler vehicles Mercedes Benz when Diamler owned them.

Also, if I was that in need of a "sex woman" as you say, there are plenty of dumb euro women out there. You can't tell me all those guys driving Range Rovers, 7 Series BMW's, AMG Mercs, and Aston Martins aren't getting a little piece of action in the sack. I'm betting they get more than a loner internet troll with no car...

I am doing just that... I sold a BMW M5, X5 and VW GTI when we moved to Czech Republic. I kept a 1970 Corvette 454 4sp and brought it over. It is a very unique car here. Interestingly there are a number of Dodge Ram pickups, a few newer Corvettes, some new Camaros and Mustangs here. The Vette was originally going to be a little project but since I brought it over it has been quite the hit. It is totally unique and gets more attention than a Ferrari or Lamborghini (of which there are quite a few here). I think the Baldwin Motion looking paint helps as well. If I were a wealthy European I might want something like this if I was looking for different.... Oh and there are the fair share of ruining earth people here (the Corvette is green in multiple ways paint and ... see articles on the cost to the planet of new vs used cars)...

Also now days every car can do 140mph.. so the autobahn is ... well not as interesting as it was in the 80s. I lived in Germany in the 80s as well and not many cars could do a sustained 100+ mph. Now 90% of the new cars can with 1.6L motors...

None and for a few reasons. First, you can buy very nice used performance cars in Europe. Two, US standards, driving habits and roads are far different here from what they have in Europe. Most roads in Europe aren't Autobahns. Even in Germany where you have (some) Autobahn segments with unlimited speed limits you still need to keep in mind that if you're driving over 130kmh you're more likely to be found at fault if you're involved in an accident. (The Germans believe in a concept unfamiliar to most Americans: personal responsibility.) In Germany the car inspection standards are much tougher than in the US. You'll also need to make sure you have the correct tires for the conditions you're driving in. Many Germans will have a set of both summer and winter driving tires. All season tires aren't as common there as they are in the US and for good reason.

None of this is to say that you can't get a good US made car to drive in Europe. Just make sure it's well maintained, that it meets the specs for whatever country you plan on driving it in, and you know the rules of the road.
