National Rifle Association To Sponsor Texas NASCAR Race

The National Rifle Association will sponsor the April 13 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, track president Eddie Gossage announced Monday during the 1.5-mile oval's annual preseason media day Monday.

The race, shown live by Fox, will be renamed from the Texas 500 to the NRA 500. It will be the first Saturday prime-time event of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) is among the largest sporting venues in the United States, with seating capacity in excess of 190,000.

Exactly what is wrong with american culture. First let us drive around in circles wasting resources and adding to global warming, then let us fire off guns and perhaps kill children when the bullits rain down. Is it amazing I would want no part of any car touched by these people? You will not see SmartEuros or SmartAsians at an event like this.. they are too busy inventing better modes of transport.

Interesting... Shell is a sponsor and they are a Dutch company. Budweiser (owned by Inbev) also dumps money in. Also... Toyota has vehicles that run in NASCAR. That's about as SmartAsian as it gets right? You really should think before you open your mouth. You claim to be a car enthusiast as Agent009 mentions below but you seem to have no knowledge or consistency when it comes to anything related to autos.

A little backup info for your reading pleasure.

Something else you need to know about racing. Much of the safety that goes into these vehicles has been modified into consumer vehicles around the globe and has saved countless lives. It's a better study and will yield more results than your "little people" grant by far.

You should also learn something about firearms too. About 100% sure those rounds being fired are blanks. Just a loud noise maker.

Are you a car enthusiast in any regard?

Yes. I admire high tech and high performance, but believe it should be exclusive, offered as a reward to leading scientists and heads of state who more than make up for their increased carbon footprint by offering policy and technical help.

So because these heads of state and scientists make up for their carbon footprint by imposing policy and "technical help" on the general population, they get to justify the production of a wasteful dumbeuro car? I suppose they are also exempt from your genetic breeding control program and are allowed to eat food that comes from places other than urban farming? Have you ever read about communism?

Its official. This is a right wing, conservative website......that happens to report on car news. Who funds this site, Fox or Rush?

Cmon..for real?? You guys have the Washington Times and Fox and Mark Levin to "discuss your views" concerning politics and the issues that surround it. Those are your outlets, utilize them. Why bring all of that here? Keep this apolitical. Yes, NASCAR is car news (I guess). But the NRA?? Really?? In this day and age, do you have to do a story with the NRA? Leave that for Hannity and Reilly and all of those ....uhhh.....television personalities. Lets just try to keep this site political free. We like our cars like we like our sports. Its an escape from the BS of politics. Lets keep it that way.
