Speed Channel To Be Renamed Fox Sports 1 Channel Focusing on NFL and MLB Coverage

Fox Sports is expected to announce this month its plans for Charlotte-based Speed channel.

While motorsports will continue to be a big chunk of programming, the company is likely to retire the Speed name late this summer and replace it with a channel called Fox Sports 1.

This would provide Fox a platform to broaden the channel’s focus into other sports, including content drawn from the network’s NFL and Major League Baseball contracts.

As long as I can watch 24 hours at the Le Mans and F1 races I don't give a damn what they are called or if they show infomercials or baseball.

Speed doesn't broadcast the F1 races anymore. 2013 F1 season is on NBCSports.

looks like you are going to be disappointed. Speed Channel lost the US franchise coverage to NBC this year. They are bringing over most of the old team but still it may be better, may be worse - - - we'll know soon enough.

Hope NBC F1 coverage will be good. Will miss Bob Varsha but not the countless NASCAR commercials and promo's on the SPEED Channel.
