Now For The List You Really Want: CR Announces Japanese Dominated Top 10 List For 2013
Looking for a new car? Start here. Our Top Picks are as close as it gets to “no-brainers” in the auto market. They’re impressive all-around vehicles, chosen from more than 280 we’ve recently tested, that have excelled in our testing, are reliable, and have performed well in independent crash tests. What’s not to like?

For 2013, we have new winners in seven categories. Honda was a no-show last year, but it has picked up three slots on this year’s list with the redesigned Accord and the CR-V and Odyssey. Two European automakers return to the list; the BMW 328i and the Audi A6 are those carmakers’ first entries in our winners’ circle in 10 and 13 years, respectively. Also new are the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ sports-car twins. And the Hyundai Elantra has returned after a one-year hiatus. No pickup was chosen because GM’s and Chrysler’s full-sized models have been revamped and we haven’t yet tested them.

...Consumer Reports vs JD Powers? Yay Honda, it's about time. For how long, well now that's for Toyota and Lexus to decide. Gotta love these Consumer R, JDP, Kelley Blue B reports, which to believe? I'd say...All of'em.

I don't believe in any of these publications. People who rely on them cannot think for themselves. Eventhough we have a Lexus in our household we did not purchase it because of any of these magazines; this is why we also own a VW and a MINI.

After reviewing the list, the only cars that I would consider from it would be the Honda Accord and the AUDI A6.

...And guess what? I think people are smarter than you think they are when it comes to making quality decisions purchasing vehicles apart from the enthusiast mentality. Although Audi, VW and Mini are nice products, they are indeed near the bottom of lists when it comes to real world quality issues. Why do you think that is? It's not that they are cheaply made either. In the long run, those Toyota and Lexus vehicles are overall the best of the best and there's not one think you or I or anyone else can say do or prove that will stop Mr. Akio Toyoda from achieving his ULTIMATE GOAL. THE BEST!!

Funny because according to all these reports, MB and BMW are below the "best of the best" or "bestes" but for the past two years they have been selling more than LEXUS both in the US and worldwide. Maybe people are really smarter than I thought and been passing on the "predicted reliability" of all these BS publications.

This list was not determined on expected reliability, but overall features, value, technology, fuel mileage, etc.
I'll bet the 2nd and 3rd place finishers were pretty close to the winning vehicles in each category.
Consumer reports does employe qualified people in the testing of cars.
