Can Mercedes-Benz Reel In The Crossover Market With Baby G-Class SUV?
Mercedes-Benz’s sub A-class model will take the form of a compact SUV according to a senior manager from the German car maker with knowledge of the new project.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity at the Geneva motor show this week, the Mercedes-Benz manager revealed to Autocar that development work had started on a Volkswagen Polo-sized model boasting iconic styling cues from the 34-year-old G-class.

“We have ideas for a B-segment car with a modern take on the traditional styling from the G-class. We’ve already indicated a desire to extend the G-class line-up with the Ener-G-Force concept shown at the motor show in Los Angeles, and this car is part of those plans.”

It's going to be really hard because this market has so much competitors and Lexus seem to be leading the way with the RX model. And those clients are very loyal to Lexus so it would really hard to persuade them to get a MB SUV instead of Lexus SUV.

Just like the BMW 3-Series. Event thought it competitors has beaten in comparison tests the BMW loyal clients still buy the BMW 3-Series instead of the Infiniti G35/37, Audi A5, Lexus IS350 or Cadillac ATS.

WTH are you talking about. This planned car is not in the same class as the RX. Did you not read the article?

That being said, I'm really having a hard time picturing this City-G. Smaller than the A-Class SUV that's forthcoming. With styling clues from the G-Class. I sure hope MB isn't planning on reaching even further down the market to compete with the likes of the Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, and Scion boxy-thingie.
