Chrysler Cans UAW Worker For Going To The Press About Saturday Work Shifts
Chrysler Group LLC has fired a Warren Stamping worker who helped organize a demonstration at the plant two weeks ago to protest a controversial new work schedule.

Alex Wassell, a 63-year-old welder repairman with nearly 20 years at the automaker, had been suspended without pay for making comments — quoted in The Detroit News — that Chrysler said violated the company's code of conduct.

Wassell said he has filed a grievance over his dismissal, but would not comment other than to say, "I'm still looking for an amicable settlement of the grievance between the union and the company."

Would be interesting if the UAW comes to his defense.

After all they did the pot smoking beer drinkers their jobs back.

The UAW will come to his "rescue" more than likely. Sad because there is probably an out of work welder trying to support his family that would work that schedule with no complaints.

The UAW might not save him if he violated UAW rules as well. Especially if he was trying to start a protest without UAW consent.

Good point. I can't recall seeing many of those cases but you are correct. Could be because I roll my eyes when I see UAW.
