RENDERED SPECULATION: If BMW's Next-Gen 7-Series Looked Like This Would You APPROVE?

For BMW it has seen a lot of different design movements. In the 1980s we saw the era of the horizontal front grille and quad headlight set up. It spanned from the 3-Series to the then 7-Series. In the 1990s the vehicles evolved into larger kidney grilles and continued its quad headlight set up. The vehicles were mostly blocky but the lines from the 80s were a bit more streamlined.

Then, the famous Bangle era took place and the entire BMW design kingdom was shaken up. Some would say for the better, others would argue for the worse. Any way you slice it sales went up and more buyers were brought to the marque for the first time. Though I will continue to say — until my grave — the E60 5-Series has to be the ultimate design fail of all time. At least when it comes to BMW.

Now it seems to finally have something that's just evocative enough to capture attention and a balance that doesn't upset the purists.

While we have seen the 3-Series get the new treatment — and we know that the X5 is next — we're assuming that the 7-Series would be one of the next targets.

That said, our friends from Auto Bild have worked up a rendering of what could possibly be the next-gen 7-Series and we've gotta know: if this is it, would YOU approve?

I'd buy it if it looked like this. What they really should do is make it look as close to the CS Concept as possible

This rendering is great , and about the E60 was a very important design for BMW , must of the brand has clue from this and BMW still using clue from it , the actual 7 series in and out has a lot from the E60. and I love it. I was the owner of one of the first to arrive to America. The critized butt Bangle trunk of the 7 series is also copied by a lot of brands. So kudos for him , he is revolutionary and original designer indee.

Looks good. Hope there is a "M" 7 series. BTW: BMW do not use a ton of chrome around everything door sills, trunk, head & tail lights like Lexus LS. Current LS has a strip of chrome alone the bottom of the lower doors that looks like the Claymore sword of William Wallace.

All car makers are going to the squinty, angry headlight look. Reflects the increasingly hostile, cynical attitude society is adopting.
