Consumer Reports Slams The X1 As Clunky And Unrefined - Has BMW Lost That Magical Edge?
If you can't wait for the new Touring version of the BMW 3-Series to arrive in the States next month, or simply think that owning a wagon is less cool than owning a crossover, the Bavarian company offers two alternatives: the X1 and the X3. If you see the former on the street, you will be struck by how un-SUV-like it looks.

That's partially due to the fact that the X1 is based on the underpinnings of the previous generation, E91 3-Series Touring, featuring a jacked up suspension and chunkier proportions.

basically, they just needed to order the Nav unit and all is good in the world (but a bit more expensive). better yet, get the 6 cylinder engine

Wait for it, wait for it ... and you will see the comments from BMW diehards about "Consumer Report doesn't know cars". I personally think BMW's X3 and X1 are ugly. But that's just my opinion.

enthuseeasss - its consumer reports (FOR THE CONSUMER) - not professional driver - every car should have a stiff suspension - and drive like an F1 car - reports. We can all agree that the current flock of BMW's are not nearly as good as the past - not even close.

Not even close? I have to disagree. Many of their cars are still segment leaders, and sale leaders. I actually test drove a new 335 and think as an overall package it is worlds better than its predecessor.

Interesting that one of the big slams CR has on the X1 28i in the CR video review is the 241HP 4 cyl twin scroll engine - the very same engine that is in the X3 28i, the 328i and the 528i.
