WHY Did This Porsche Owner RUIN A Perfectly Good 911?

WHY Did This Porsche Owner RUIN A Perfectly Good 911?
You know that saying, "everything in moderation is good"? Well, more people should probably take that into consideration when adding things to their car. I know this after taking a look at some user submitted photographs.

Spotted in what appears to be someone's local mini mall, is a Porsche 911 (996). Already one strike against it is the fact it's the 996 generation, which is the "red-headed stepchild" of 911s. With its "fried egg" headlights, one of the poorest interiors — ever — and being the first water-cooled 911, it was a tough go for this Porsche.

But then this owner really took it to the next level. Sporting what appears to be a TechArt body kit, in addition to some pieces of the Porsche GT3 aero kit, it's an ensemble of parts. Then there's the whole black wrapped hood thing that's sort of an homage to the 911 (997) GT2 RS. It's when you get to its hind quarters though that you really start to say "WTF?"

That's because this specific 911 is sporting the ugliest taillights of all time. And, yes, I've seen some pretty bad examples. These are the tops though.

What say you? Can this vehicle be SAVED or is it a LOST CAUSE?

Have to wonder what the owner thinks of people posting pics of his car with his license plate in full view?

His plates are in plain view on the road and the vehicle is parked in a public setting. Give it a rest.

Wow... nice observation but it's now on the internet for anyone to see. Not just the joe in the car behind you or in a parking lot. Some people don't like their information floating around the internet. This is why you see many publications blur the plate of private vehicles.

@trmckin

Publications don't blur license plates because their fear putting the owner's information online. They blur the license plate because if the car can be identified, then the owner can claim that they are using his/her property to sell/advertise their publication.

Feel free to start posting pics then. People might disagree.

People can disagree all they want. If you car is in a public place, you can not only take the picture, you can publish it.

No 5hit sherlock. You can do whatever you want. My point is, there are a lot of strange people on the internet and posting their plates isn't exactly cool with everyone. Like I said, post away. Eventually, you might run into someone that doesn't appreciate it.

I think the real question is; Is there any saving you? Seems like you could find something more productive to write about than attacking a fellow car enthusiasts style choices. While his choices do not mirror mine, I'm sure we share an appreciation for fine automobiles. Additionally, you seem to know very little about the Porsche line. The "Fried Egg" headlights you refer to are the automotive press interpretation of the 993 Series. The 996 has a sharp edged front headlight and is widely considered the most successful Porsche line to date.

You're an idiot.

Use Google for five min and check out what you find with "fried egg 996."

Saved? Whoever owns it can do whatever the hell they want with it. Let them be.

Yes, this thing is hideous, tacky, and somewhat of a tragedy. BUT, its owner is pleased with it, so that's all that matters and that's all that should matter to anyone.
