TRD Offers $52K Supercharger Package For The $25K FR-S Sports Car

According to a service department document posted on FT86Club.com, the TRD supercharger in question will cost an alarming $26,000!

We first reported that a TRD supercharger was in the product plan after speaking to representatives of Ken Stout Racing at the SEMA Show last year. Ken Stout Racing used the aftermarket parts expo to show off its FR-S race car, which will hit the track in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge series this year. In order to stay competitive the small 4-cylinder sports car needs a blower, but in order for that supercharger to be legal in the series, Scion has to offer it for sale.

For $52,000 I can choose one of the car that I just listed and their ton more for that price. Thank you for being a fun sports, IMAO........

Well technically EACH one is $26K. So IF you can find a buyer for the other your cost would be less.

Sell in pairs plus no ecu software keeps them off the street.

None of you guys get it....it's a one off made for sale just so that it can be legal for THIS competition. They probably expect to sell 10 of them. It even said they have no plans to stock them. Honda used to do this with Superbike parts. They had to be available for sale or else they couldn't oompete. SO they'd make 10 for sale and charge 100k for a motorcycle that was pretty much a street legal GP bike. This has nothing to do with people who own an FR-S.

...Great idea, Absolutely for proffessional race endurance environments only. Let's kinda break this down to it's lowest terms so to speak.

#1) These Superchargers were developed by TRD for Professional Race use only.

#2) These Supercharger KITS are sold to Professional Race Teams ONLY, and are SOLD IN MINIMUM QUANTITY KITS OF 2 (pairs).

#3) The cost for these MINIMUM QUANTITY KITS OF TWO SUPERCHARGERS FOR PROFFESSIONAL USE ONLY is $26,000.

#4) We assume with the common understanding that IF these Professional Race use only Superchargers were sold as individual kits, they would cost approx. $13,000 ea.

#5) However, since these products were intentionally developed by TRD for the Scion FR-S Race Teams use only and are sold exclusively to them as MINIMUM QUANTITY of 2's costing $26,000, they are not available for public sale or use and do not include ECU Software.

With this understanding of the intentions, purposeful use, pre-arranged cost of these products and that these Professionally modified FR-S's most likely cost more than the Stock $25K Scions, we are all equally informed to draw logical conclusions based on this knowledge.
