NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: LEAKED! 2014 Cadillac CTS TEASED — Is The Era Of "Art and Science" DOA Or ALIVE And Well?

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: LEAKED! 2014 Cadillac CTS TEASED — Is The Era Of
We're coming down to the final stretch before the 2013 New York Auto Show kicks off and we're starting to get juiced up. And now we've got some intriguing news to report.

Photos of the 2014 Cadillac CTS have slipped out and from what's being talked about it appears that these intentional "leaked" images were posted to a Flickr account. They are showing us just enough of the all-new Caddy to start wondering a couple of things.

While it seems that automakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz are moving away from the "same sausage, different size" mentality — Yes, there are SOME similarities to keep branding in line — it seems that our friends at Cadillac are keeping its Art and Science design language VERY strict.

It's a guarantee that the 2014 CTS will benefit from the same details found on the ATS and XTS:

- Large grille
- Headlights that sweep to the top of the hood
- Sharp lines
- Vertical taillights a la old-school Cadillacs

The problem, for me, is that there may not be enough differentiation between the ATS, upcoming CTS, and XTS. Is that a good or a bad thing?

From the "leaked" images it seems to me that the only REAL factor that will diffentiate the CTS from the ATS and XTS are the lines on the hood, which actually remind me of the E90 LCI hood. It seems to snarl, which is pretty nifty, actually.

This all has me wondering: Is Cadillac's styling becoming too predictable AND should Cadillac MOVE ON to a new era of design?

Remember the Cadillac Ciel concept? What ever happened to THOSE influences?

I like what i see! The vertical LEDs should have a lot of presence on the road.

These shots do look good, and now that the entire vehicle has been revealed it all comes together quite nicely save the rather Cadillac circa 2005 DTS-style taillights/trunk.

With a front end this razor sharp and dramatic, it's just a bit of a letdown that they went for a softer/more rounded look for the rear.

Still... Likely the very best looking mid-sized luxury vehicle existent.

I kind of like the Art & Science design theme and think it has a few more iterations. I think they could actually pull off some modern looking tail fin/lights that would actually look good.

Modern tail/fin with Leds would be fantastic.Maybe they are saving that for the Flagship. That would be awesome. I think the most awesome car ever was the 1959 Eldorado Biarrtiz Convertible because they took risks.

From the little we can see I think it's very striking. Kudos Caddy.

Very nice. Much improved over current gen, which wasn't all that bad either.

Not enough differentiation from the ATS and XTS? Pretty intersting statement when you consider every BMW and Audi all share the same design elements and you love those. Cadillac's doing a great job...hope the quality lives up to these new designs as they're our best chance to have ANYTHING competitve to Europe made in the US.

Spent a little time looking at the ATS and XTS at the auto show this weekend. They are definitely on par with the Audi and BMW offerings. I like how cadillac isn't afraid to push the edge in terms of design. Time will tell how these drive and handle but from the onset, I'm glad to see cadillac stepping up to the plate with something bold.

Well, the real deal was fully revealed and I'm digging the front-end and, to a lesser degree, the interior. but the rear end from the C-pillar on is disappointing. The beauty of the current car is the aggressive line of the C-pillar and the haunch of the trunk, with the aggressive placement of the taillights. The update looks almost too formal and conservative, even for the luxury mid-size class.

It's definitely more formal but it's also a larger car than the last gen. ATS took over that look. The edmunds pics make it look close to the same size as a 300. Possibly a little smaller which would be a good thing. Something fun to drive that doubles as a great car for business. Can't wait to see this in person.

After seeing the full pictures, I love the engine and the LED's will keep my awake after looking at the rest of the car.

Not seeing what you all are seeing in this car.

I'll wait to see what the V Wagon looks like, but I'm definitely passing on the sedan.

Ruff, ruff. Caddy is bringing a car to market that resembles a bull dog.

Ha ha haaaaa. The German car makers are laughing themselves silly over this.
