NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Mercedes-Benz Delivers A Product ASSAULT — Launch Schedule DETAILED
There's no question that 2013 is going to be a BIG year for Mercedes-Benz and if you are at the 2013 New York Auto Show, you'll see why. Not only is Mercedes showing off it's highly anticipated CLA45 AMG, it is also debuting — to the U.S. — the new E63 AMG, with the all-wheel drive, the new CLS63 AMG and the C63 AMG Edition 507.

Why SO many AMGs, you ask? From what we've been told the New York Tri-State region is one of the largest consumer markets for AMG products. Remember, this is a consumer-focused show.

What may be even more interesting than the debuts above though is 2013 launch calendar located in the press release below.

From my perspective, the important launches are as follows...

1) Revised E350 4MATIC/RWD, E400 Hybrid, E550 4MATIC ((April))
2) GLK250 BlueTEC ((April))
3) Revised E250 BlueTEC 4MATIC/RWD, E350/550 coupe/cabriolet ((July))
4) CLA250 ((September))
5) All-New S-Class ((September))

Mercedes-Benz Debuts Five Models at NY International Auto Show

Two World Debuts and Three U.S. Debuts Continue to Highlight Significant Product Momentum

Mercedes-Benz continues its product launch momentum by highlighting two world debuts and three U.S. debuts at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, five of thirty models that will launch in the U.S. within the next seven years, or an average of once a quarter.

The World Debuts of the 2014 CLA45 AMG and 2014 B-Class Electric Drive, both under embargo until March 27, 2013, continue to demonstrate a cultivating premium small car segment for Mercedes-Benz. The CLA45 AMG features the world’s most powerful fourcylinder engine built in series production with 355 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque mated to performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive. The 2014 B-Class Electric Drive is powered by a 134 hp electric motor and has a range of 115 miles.

U.S. Debuts of the 2014 E63 AMG S-Model 4MATIC Wagon and 2014 CLS63 AMG S-Model 4MATIC represent a new direction of controlled performance in luxury cars that were previously equipped with rear-wheel drive. Finally, the 2014 C63 AMG sedan and coupe range receive an optional upgraded performance package called Edition 507, for which the coupe version will be present at NYIAS. By the end of calendar year 2013, there will be 21 AMG models available in the United States.

On the smart side, New York International Auto Show will see the U.S. debut of the smart fortwo BoConcept signature style car, which was designed in collaboration with leading Danish furniture design company BoConcept.

Mercedes-Benz's product assault is all well and good but if the new Mercedes-Benz models fail to attract more buyers in China, Mercedes-Benz will continue to trail BMW and Audi in global sales by a large margin.

MB needs to approve some overtime, because a late 2013(November) of the CLA 45 is a tad late. MB also needs to keep the CLA45 to under $40k, probably somewhere around $35-37k.

The CLA45 AMG is overpriced for what it is. Sure, you get an AMG "prestigious" badge, but paying $55K for a car based on the lowly A-class when it will perform only slightly better than the cheaper $38-42K Audi S3 is pointless.

It may technically be an AMG, but the competition offers a similarly prestigious badge, higher quality interior and only slightly reduced performance for $10-15K less.

umm...the last generation RS3 in Europe started around $50K us. And the S3 will be low to mid $40's. I guarantee the next RS3 will start around $50K as well. I would say the CLA45 AMG is very reasonably priced, not only is the CLA45 larger than the S3 sedan, it has 60 more hp from the same sized motor, and has a seven speed dct compared to the S3s 6 speed. And have you seen the CLAs interior? It is every bit as nice as the S3, plus the Cla has better seats! Thats cool you like Audi's S3, but the AMG is better.

The S3 will be low to mid $40,000 range with more standard equipment, which is better than high $40,000 range with less standard equipment.

The CLA's interior is so plasticky and cheap looking. Look at the navigation screen, it looks like someone just took an aftermarket product and bolted it onto the dashboard.

What many BMW and Mercedes-Benz fanboys fail to realize is that for A LOT less money (at least 10% on average) Audi's S models offer 85% of the performance, better interiors, equal or better levels of luxury and 95% of the dynamic capabilities of their BMW M and Mercedes-Benz AMG counterparts.

In summary, for A LOT less money you get 90% of the competition's performance and dynamic capability with an even better interior that is as luxurious or better.

LOl your soo full of it. Do you have a list of standard equipment both cars will have? Post a source please. Interior is obviously of subjective opinion, I think the Mercedes is nicer.Mercedes looks plasticky!?!?! lol did you look at the A3 it looks like a 2002 tt interior covered in plastic. Dynamic capabilities and performance are one and the same...why are the percents different? Lol, try and make some sense when you make this BS up.

In summary the A45 AMG is a MUCH nicer, and higher performing car starting at $48K.

Performance and dynamic capabilities are NOT one and the same. Performance, in car enthusiast/car magazine speak refers to straight-line performance. Dynamic capabilities refers to handling, grip, feedback (ie how does the car perform and feel when the roads start twisting and turning).

Learn proper terminology for car reviews BEFORE you try to make an arguement, MercedesSL.

LOl, oh is that what your little C&D magazine tells you. Last time I checked handling and acceleration are both measurable categories of how a car performs (also perfroms is short for Performance which is the exact word you used to describe dynamic capabilities)lol.

Anyway CLA45 AMG > Audi S3.
