Volkswagen Exiting Minivan Market - Winding Down Production Of Routan
The president of VW in America announced the automaker will phase out production of the Routan minivan due to declining demand.

“We’re still taking a few vehicles from Chrysler during the course of this year mainly for some internal purposes, for some company cars, some fleet usage. But essentially the retail marketing of Routan is tailing down now. We will be exiting that over time now,” Jonathan Browning, president of Volkswagen Group of America, said at the New York Auto Show.

My daughter just bought a certified used model, and it's actually quite nice. Having the built in DVD player keeps the kids occupied and it's very roomy and comfortable.

should have bought one for my family but i just can't do it. Have been as far as negotiating price with the toyota dealer but every time i walked out to look at it one more time, it kept depressing me. They are handy and comfortable vehicles and usually a smart buy over an SUV but theyare just so friggin hard to look at in your garage.

I'm a broken record and you guys are sick of hearing it from me...but VW is sitting on a retro goldmine if they'd only build the Microbus concept. How many Phaetons and other stupidities will they finance first?

Idk, it wouldn't have mass market appeal, it would be more of a niche.

would definitely get rid of the embarrassment factor usually associated with the current options.

I second the Micro Bus concept. Yes it would be a niche vehicle, but a good one.

Nowadays, Kia would probably do a better version of a Microbus type of vehicle.
