NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Infiniti Announces The 2014 Q50's Price — Who's Gonna Lose Their Shirt? A4? 3-Series? C-Class? IS? TL? ATS?
Here we go! The entry-level luxury sedan space is a hot space and Infiniti's bringing an all-new entrant to the party, the Q50. Taking over where the G left off, the Q50 has big shoes to fill but from what I saw at the 2013 New York Auto Show, if its driving dynamics are good I think it won't have much to worry about.

To me it's a very advanced evolution from the existing G and in a good way. The product is more edgy and stands out in the crowd as opposed to blending in.

And now that Infiniti has announced pricing, it will surely give everyone a run for their money. The base model will clock in at around $36,450 for the rear-wheel drive variant. This is BMW 328i territory and obviously the Infiniti will be packaged in a more complete way with its larger motor.

That said, who's most likely to feel the Q50's pain? Acura's TL? Audi's A4? BMW's 3-Series? Cadillac's ATS? Lexus' IS? Mercedes-Benz's C-Class?

Infiniti's press release follows:

NEW YORK – Infiniti Motor Company Limited today announced an introductory pre-order Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (M.S.R.P.) of $36,450 USD for the all-new 2014 Infiniti Q50 sport sedan, which goes on sale in summer 2013 at Infiniti retailers in the United States. The special introductory pricing is $900 lower than the 2013 Infiniti G37 Sedan starting M.S.R.P. The “popularly equipped” Q50 Premium model with an optional, advanced navigation system is introductory priced at $40,700 USD.

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is designed to stretch the boundaries of what a sports sedan can be – with such advanced features as the world’s first Direct Adaptive Steering™ technology and Active Lane Control. The Q50 is offered with a choice of a 3.7-liter V6 or 3.5-liter Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid™ system in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. “From world’s first technologies to unmatched levels of connectivity and personalization, the 2014 Q50 sports sedan is a bold example of Infiniti’s future brand direction,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore.

Infiniti has also expanded the Q50 microsite, infinitiusa.com/all-new-Q50, so customers can not only learn more about the vehicle, they can now “configure and reserve” a Q50. Customers who reserve and ultimately purchase a vehicle for delivery during the program period will receive a complimentary iPad® mini.

At these prices, it's going to make the entry level luxury market very competitive.

Smaller cars like the: CLA, A3, 1 Series, ATS, CTS, Lincoln and the Acura sedans; are going to feel some sales pain.

This new Infiniti G37/Q50 sedan look so Mean, I can't wait for the new G37/Q60 coupe to come out and hopefully they give it around 350 hp and around 300 ft of torque would be nice.

And it would be even better if they can manage to make the new G37/Q60 coupe 200 to 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing G37 sedan and coupe model.

I wonder what the "real" price will be once the pre-order period is over....

This is base pricing only- with decent options it should push just north of 50k.

Still cheaper than a decently equipped 335i.

Can't wait for the day the 2030 3 series sells for 100k............I can tell my grandkids how it used to be a "nice" sporty sedan back in my day for 30k....lol

I remember walking onto a BMW lot and seeing the 318ti with a sticker of just shy of $30k.

Unless they put a turbo in the engine. The 335 will out perform this. 3.7-liter V6... Will Infiniti use that engine for the rest of time?
