Dealers Selling Dodge DART'S With The Rallye Package For THREE GRAND OVER MSRP? Really?
A couple weeks ago cruising through Orange County I saw the new 2013 Dodge Dart in the best color I had seen yet, the new Header Orange clear coat.

It just looks awesome in person, especially with the rear LED strip.

When you are car crazy like the Agents, even if you own a dream car you're still always out scoping dealer lots and checking out the latest arrivals.

So as I was cruising this afternoon I saw one on a dealer lot and I had to get some pics and see it up close.

Little did I know, I was about to get a major surprise.

As I was admiring the car (hands down the best looking car in its segment) my eyes locked on a shocking sight.

Next to the window sticker of the Dart, there was a dealer addendum sticker (we always refer to it as the STUPID tax) adding almost THREE GRAND to the price of the DART!!!

WHAT?

You have GOT to be kidding me.

We know dealers have the right to charge whatever they want but c'mon man.

IT'S A DART NOT AN M3!

If you ask us it is a REALLY dumbass way to turn off customers on a car that really needs to sell in high volumes.

Chime in and let us know your thoughts.

Are you as freaked out as us that a dealer would add $3k to the sticker price of a Dodge Dart in today's market?

And would you ever pay that premium to own one?

Most car dealers mark up cars a ridiculous amount.

I guess my question is "whats new"? When I sold cars in the mid 90's at a Toyota dealership and they had just come out with the 1996 Toyota 4 Runner, the dealership I sold cars for would up the price on the 4 Runner by 2 grand. If I was able to sell it at sticker I would make what is called a 4 pounder(commission on a $4,000 profit less $500 "Dealer Pack".My commission was 25% or $875.Back then it was a simple supply and demand issue as dealers were always short of 4-Runners initially.Regarding the Dart I question if there is that much pent up demand for them. Putting a 3 grand dealermarkup on them sounds a bit questionable to me but obviously they must know what they are doing.

Having never seen one on the higway, I now know why. I refuse to pay ADM on any car. You want to sell it to me, we talk sticker, and down. You don't want to talk, I move on to the next dealer. The problem is people are emotional, and buying a car is emotional, which is why they don't want you walking out the door to, "think about it". Quite honestly, it is a CAR, and I don't care if I buy it or not. This attitude drives them nuts.
