To Understand BMW's X4 Concept You HAVE To Know Its Roots
Yesterday the world got its very first peek at the very rumored about BMW X4. Though there's been a lot of chatter and conversation about the possible BMW X4, it wasn't spotted out on the open road. That means two things:

1) Either BMW is going to build the vehicle on an existing chassis, or...
2) It was using mules, or
3) I am wrong with point 1 and 2, above.

Any way you slice it, this vehicle was mostly a surprise. There's no question it's going to have a positive feedback from the motoring press and the general public. That's — more or less — the point of this vehicle, as was the X6 when it first bowed. It's meant to be polarizing.

And if you recall the concept that made its debut at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, the BMW X Coupe, you'll remember that was radical and way ahead of its time. The difference now is that over a decade has passed and the first real product based on the 2001 concept made its appearance in form of the X6.

The basics that would come to define the X6 and X4 were there way back in 2001. Based on the X5, the X Coupe has that commanding driving position, sloping roofline and a bit of spunk in its design.

Now we see the X4. To me its a direct result of the X Coupe; however, it seems to remind me quite a bit of the current-gen X3 that has mated with the all-new 3-Series Gran Turismo. Note the side profile and the lines running along the front fender? How about the rear end?

Maybe stick to the merc stories only, not only does your precious company have no X6 or X4 competitor and doesn't even have an X1 or Q3 competitor, that's why mercedes is 3rd.

Oh, and then there's the GLK, considered on of the most successful designs on the road today, NOT! And sales prove it.

So shove your ugly comments, glass houses after all hey?

I don't think this is a serious article, it was posted too close to April Fools Day. The two door vehicle looks very similar to a Bangle era concept that was similarly not symmetrical at the rear end. I think it is the original concept that has been photoshopped to reflect some One Series themes.

If it is serious then expect it sell at a rate barely faster than the continents are drifting apart.

@ClevelandSteeamer the X6 costs almost twice as much as the GLK so no use comparing sales figures. We're talking SUVs and Crossovers here, so don't get desperate in your comparisons.

BTW, "quite nice actually" is not an excuse for a design and sales result that has meant the GLK is NOT even mentioned in comparisons or articles comparing the X3 and Q5, it's really that bad.

Your FAIL is that you have no logic to back up your biased argument Benz is the worst of the german luxury brands world wide by sales and most often by media comparison, and there is a reason for that, their products are 3rd best most of the time.

Eat it. Or show me the sales figures of your "quite nice" GLK. Join a benz fan site, you're find more love there, troll.
