RENDERED SPECULATION: Audi Q6, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Porsche Macan vs. BMW's Real-Life X4 Concept

One of the most exciting areas in the automotive space is the growing entry-level premium sport-utility vehicle area. Of course while we saw the big boys begun to evolve and take on a sportier persona and driving dynamics thanks to vehicles like the BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne and Acura ZDX — which frankly overdid it as rear headroom and legroom is...lacking — we're seeing that start to trickle down.

If you need concrete proof of that, take one good look at the all-new BMW X4 Concept set to debut at the Shanghai auto show.

But according to rumors, it won't be the only HOT SUV making its way to showrooms. Look out for the potential Audi Q6, and recently spied Mercedes-Benz GLA and Porsche Macan to make this one competitive sector.

One industry executive we recently spoke with alluded to the Macan being the one that will have us panting like dogs.

That said, overseas publications have been busy at work putting together what these three upcoming products COULD look like.

If you ask us, they better bring their "A" game as the X4 Concept is pushing all the right buttons for us right now...

This is a dumb comparison. We know the production BMW X4 will be missing some key styling details of the concept version (just look at the production BMW 4-series coupe spy shots compared to the 4-series concept).

The Audi Q6 will be the sportier version of the Q7, NOT the Q5. The sportier version of the Q5 will be the Q4 and the sportier version of the Q3 will be the Q2.

The BMW X4 should therefore be compared to the upcoming Audi Q4 NOT the Q6.
