Pictures and hints of the new Audi B8 platform (A4 for the none Audifiels)
In a nutshell
Audi is counting down to the launch of its most important volume car, the new A4. Codenamed AU481, it rides on an all-new platform, which insiders vow transforms the car's dynamic abilities. Revised engines serve up more power and torque, too. The A4 family is set to grow, too, with a sleek Sportback hatch added to the staple saloon and Avant. First out of the blocks is the four-door, in autumn 2007.

With two good photoshops the next A4 should really look good, most of the time, there is a good photoshop and a bad one.

will the world is new platform every 6 years and refresh in the middle

we got the refresh for 2005.5 and for 2008 a new car (probably 2008.5

The years for new models are getting shorter though for all new cars. Let's hope it is not like computers or we will have to do 3 month leases..

It will pack a lot of horsepower. The 2.0 TFSI will have around 230 hp, the 3.2 liter V6 will have 300 hp, Europe will also get a 2.8 liter V6 with 270 hp. That means that the 4.2 liter V8 could have 400 hp in the S4 version. This power will come from Valvelift. Also some nice diesels should come over as well, hopefully.

I wanna like Audi as a car company but its really hard to like something without any personality. Audi has very boring design, over-rated interior and everythin else just make me not be interested in Audi.

Rupert-
The Cabriolet goes away with the B8 platform(seen here)
the A5 Cabriolet follows the B8 Launch in coupe/cabriolet and RS5 with close to 500 HP!!!

huu76 - read above a little before you post

the current a4 came out in 2001 as a 2002 model and in December 2004 the 2005.5 refresh came out so the car will be 6 years old when it is redone

6 years with a refresh 1/2 way is perfect for me

I think we shold talk about the car and not about namecalling. It will be an excellent car, the new modular platform will move the engine back about 6 inches, the gearbox and the transfer case will switch places with the gerbox to allow this. It will be a very high performance car when it comes out.

chewy is right, except the engine relative to the front axle is about 4 inches further aft in the B8 chassis than in the B7. Significant improvement in balance. Nevertheless, BMW's 3-series is rwd and even better balanced, so on dry pavement it's the more rewarding car to drive. BUT, when you throw in the high price, lesser reliability, ugly Bangle styling, lesser interior quality, etc, the BMW becomes less attractive in the real world. All the auto mags will run the A5 / A5 against the 3-series soon, so we shall see what they have to say. As far as i'm concerned, if you need a comfortable 4-season car, go for the Audi.

All those who aren't writing about the car, please pry yourself away from your computer and try out your snide comments on someone in the real world. Preferably someone with a blackbelt in karate and a short temper.
