Toyota To Put Matrix Out It's Misery At The End Of This Year
Sorry Matrix fans, it doesn’t sound like Toyota’s compact hatchback is going to be around much longer.

Past reports suggest the Matrix is headed out to pasture and an internal source familiar with the matter told AutoGuide today that there will be an official announcement coming in five weeks about the car’s future in North America.

This is a natural time for the Matrix to make its exit. It’s based on the Corolla, which is due for a complete redesign previewed by the Furia concept during this year’s Detroit Auto Show. Given the poor overall demand for the hatchback, it would seem unlikely for Toyota to create a new version.

trmckin - here I am. Do you honestly think Toyota is not going to introduce a replacing econo-hatchback? It's their lead in segment onto the post-graduate Corrolla to the family sedan and then onto the entry luxury Lexus. If this segment is so unappealing, why do you think Ford is bringing their Euro-designed Fiesta and Focus, GM is bringing their Daewoo's small cars (Cruze and Sparks), Chrysler and their Fiat hatchback?

Ah! there is one still around! I guess CarSmart has gone underground with his human genetic engineering plan. As for this article, I don't give a rats a55 about what they plan to introduce. I agree it will be something and it will probably sell for the reasons you mention. However... the fact remains that this was a lame POS and thankfully this version is over. Scenicbyway12 put it perfectly below.

I was just wondering if any of you guys were still around as they've been busy posting articles about supercharged audi's, big BMW's, and Range Rovers with little to no input from the SmartEuro crowd. Didn't know if the hypocrisy had hospitalized someone.
