AWESOME or AWFUL? Is This Jeep Wrangler A DOUCHEMOBILE Or ONE Of The GREATEST?

AWESOME or AWFUL? Is This Jeep Wrangler A DOUCHEMOBILE Or ONE Of The GREATEST?
Yes, I just had to ask.

Spotted on eBay is probably the MOST expensive Jeep Wrangler ever to grace God's green Earth. But, I will admit it features some pretty serious hardware.

First things first the V6 is gone, kaput. Shoehorned into the Wrangler's engine bay is a 6.4-liter HEMI producing 450 horsepower. Stopping this is a HUGE set of Brembo brakes that measure an outrageous 16 inches.

Notice the peculiar finish to the paint? According to the seller this is a specific "kevlar" finish that "boasts 4,700 PSI tensile strength," or whatever that means. I am not quite understanding the reason why it has a Martini racing stripe but...uh...yeah.

But here's what I don't understand. The reason why ANYONE would want to spend over $100,000 on a Jeep.

Yes, you read correctly. You can own all of this Wrangler for a cool $144,888 if you click the "Buy it Now" button.

I know, they're very off-road capable and with this spec it is a monster. But if you want off-road capability, rugged looks, a luxurious interior and the full nine, why not just go out and get an all-new Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG? I mean, I know it doesn't have a Martini racing stripe but I think most folks would live.

So, all of that said, I have to ask: is this Jeep Wrangler AWESOME and worth six figures or is it the most AWFUL douchemobile on the planet?

First of all, the G63 AMG is not really off road capable. This jeep has a long arm kit, if you know anything about suspensions, it basically means more wheel travel. It will have a much better approach angle and descent angle. Also, with the proper drive shafts, the transfer case is stuffed under the body and protected by a proper skid plate. Less chance of being hung up and the skid plate is built properly not to get caught on anything.
The G63 paint is much softer and little rocks or branches will destroy the paint. There are a million more reasons why you wouldnt get a G63 over this. Common sense.

I agree, they pretty much took the offroad capability away from the G when they put that sport suspension and those big wheels and tires. I'll take an 04 Land Rover Discovery II over this for the simple fact that it has a nice interior, longer radius arms from the factory than the upgrade kits available for Jeep, stronger axles, and the Trandmission and transfer case already sit tucked away up above the frame rails, plus all of the gearboxes have vent tubes that go up to the top of the firewall. However I will not bash a Wrangler, as there are much more aftermarket parts and support here in America. The Discovery II has it all stock, save for the big Hemi V8. The 4.6 is more than adequate as it, because gearing, not horsepower is what gets you throught the tough stuff.

As a Jeep owner that lives the "Jeep life," I have to say that this one is amazing! I'm always looking for ways to upgrade my Jeep and the Kevlar coating is definitely useful for protecting your Jeep's exterior. If you do your research (as all people should when writing a fair review), you would see that PSI tensile strength refers to "pounds per square inch." At 4,700 PSI the Kevlar on this Jeep is FIVE TIMES stronger than steel.

Beyond that, the Martini racing stripe is so great! It's just unique and different. What Jeep owner wouldn't want to make their Jeep stand out from the thousands of ho-hum Jeeps? And for crying out loud, it's a JEEP! It's obviously a strong piece of road roaming equipment. Making it stronger only empowers the Jeep owner and enhances its capabilities.

Would I pay over $100K for it? Absolutely. This machine is for the avid Jeep lover. I found a link to it on their website, and man, this Jeep has an equally impressive interior! Apparently this company builds custom Jeeps in house, whatever you want: http://www.starwoodmotors.com/web/used/Jeep-Wrangler-2013-Dallas-Texas/5543874/

If you're looking for something so-so, I guess you could stick with a factory model of whatever you like. Personally, I would choose something custom and unique like this Jeep!

Awesome. Martini Racing stripe pays homage to Lancia Delta Integrale rally victories. Lancia and Jeep = now both Fiat portfolio companies. Besides, almost any car looks better with the Martini Racing livery.

Its a douche. Want to see a real $150k off road custom Jeep JK google Rattle Trap. Start with its Twin Turbo Cummins 6Bt deisel 650hp and 1,200 ft lbs torque (thats before the nitrous kicks in) on a 14" stretched frame using the famously expensive Portal axels. It has a list of custom components longer then both my arms and 10x longer then that jeep. Its cleared every obstacle at Moab unlike that puff mobile thats never left the showroom. Oh and Rattle Traps painted in Line X which is the base material used in the Kevlar hype. Oh did i mention better then twice the fuel mileage?
