SPIED + VIDEO: BMW's Next-Gen M3 TEARING Up The Track With Its LOUD Six-Cylinder Providing A Helluva Soundtrack
Though a ton of enthusiasts are all over the current-gen BMW M3, I have to say it hasn't been a favorite of mine. There's a variety of reasons but the biggest is easily that V8 powerplant.

It's OK but it's certainly not worth all the gum flapping that goes on in the forums. AND if you've driven the 1M, you'd know right away that's the kind of motor that NEEDS to be in a BMW M3 while cutting down its beefy weight.

Well, the BMW gods have listened.

We've heard clips of the next-gen M3 but this one may be one of the better ones because it sounds like its going flat out right past the camera on several passes. In addition, it's very clear that BMW has fine tuned the six-cylinder engine to sound MUCH more Porsche-like, which is something I noticed on the 1M. Of course, that's a GREAT thing.

It looks like this M3/M4 will be one of the best yet.

Currently rumors and speculation has placed the power at around 415 hp and 395 lb.-ft. Obviously the torque is much needed injection as the current, high-revving V8 only puts out 295 lb.-ft.

Ahead of its debut (in concept form) sometime later this year, the production F80 M3 prototype forges ahead with testing this week at the Nurburgring. We've got it on video giving us probably the best listen so far at the F80 M3's multi-turbo inline 6.

If you recall, we recently reported on information gleaned from the M4 prototype's registered VIN information.

According to the VIN info, the M3 will be powered by a 310kW (415 hp) 3.0L inline 6 engine (s55)...

Not really. Even though it kept the line, you can see the body control is not as sharp and stout as before.

Nice sound. Hopefully this 2014 M3 will finally crack the 8-minute barrier at this Nurburgring track. No standard M3 has thus far been able to reach this performance benchmark, except the limited edition GTS and CSL that were lightened and finetuned for track performance.

Looking forward to the m4 coupe version myself, but like the flared wheel arches on the sedan. Shedding 300lbs and adding 100lb-ft is going to do wonders, Looks like BMW is holding very little back with this m3. Can't wait.

At least it didn't get me banned. More than I can say for MeatHelmet, who somehow is attempting to disassociate himself from his past. Funny. Maybe he learned a lesson this time. We’ll see.

And I only antagonize the delusional Toyota fans. Who post crap about reliability (like one car having .03 problems per year less than another is a difference), and preach crap about Toyota building superior cars. I have to admit, they haven't been able to post crap like that in a while without looking like a fool. Toyota has relegated themselves to be a builder of KIA/Hyundia like cars. But that doesn’t stop the fans from calling them the best. Clueless.

There's a big difference from what I do than what the banned users did/do. I talk mess about a car (brand), if any one takes that personally, then they need to get out more and spit out the fanboy juice.

What the Banned users do is attack someone personally over what that person said about a car. Disagree with them about a car and they will call you names and everything else in the book. But for some reason that behavior doesn’t even warrant any of your attention, instead calling out an object warrants your attention. Hmmmm. Are you one of those fanboys?
