Lexus Shifts From Retirement Communities - Begins Trolling For Hipsters With New Campaign
Lexus launched its new global marketing campaign at a glitzy New York party that targeted young hipsters with the fresh tagline of "Amazing in Motion" featuring 9-foot puppets.

Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda used the waterfront gala in New York's trendy Chelsea district on Friday night to paint the company's luxury brand as an avant-garde, aspirational car.

The party, with a preponderance of thick-rimmed Elvis Costello glasses, slinky black dresses, tattoos and nary a soul over 40, illustrated Lexus's ambition to reach younger customers.

Too funny, besides the LF-LC and IS, their bread and butter models (RX and ES) won't capture any young buyers.

This all depends on what you consider the criteria/definition for "young" and "getting".

I consider -USNA1999 is another blogger who's standing in line waiting to hear and see the demise from the TMC Corp and the Lexus brand. News Flash: "It aint gonna happen!"

Lexworld the truth is that TMC is here to stay for now but just like your example from a few weeks ago from Apple; all this companies eventually fail to impress. Remember GM? BTW I am pretty big Apple holder and have taken a beating lately. I could care less about TMC since they don't pay my bills but I am pretty sure that knowitall1985 won't agree with me since he sells these brands for a living. But just like you stated below, Lexus needs to stick with the Baby Boomers for now. The fact is that very few young buyers "depending on your definition on young buyer" are buying Lexus automobiles. You should see the faces of all these "Baby Boomers" when they see me driving my car, shocking that a guy 20 years younger is driving the same car they are. Same goes when I take it in for service or when I pick up my clients. Reality is that Mr. Akio knows that these Baby Boomers which almost lose of their lifetime savings/investments this past few years will continue holding tighter to their discretionary funds and will spend less in the next few years. This is why he is trying to crack in the younger buyers. Not sure what he is going to do if another recession hits again or when these "Baby Boomers" are gone.

By the way, a word to the wise. Mr. Akio already understands that it's the Baby Boomers who still pay the bills (who can actually afford expensive Lexus or Toyota products). His objectives are to inject the fun factor into pretty much the entire Toyota/Lexus brand as a whole and at the same time, slowly but surely, wean the young and old alike off baby milk into the good stuff, such as becoming a genuine Toyota and Lexus connoisseur.

Call me whatever you want, the fact is that TMC and Mr. Akio see me as their "money maker client" since I am the one that purchased and owns one of their "high profit margin" cars and not you. Just ask Lexus of Jacksonville. You can continue to hate on me but the dealer and the brand loves people like me everytime we walk into that show room.

Didn't I read you own a 2009 LS? What other high profit margin Lexus is in your stable that you recently walked into their showroom and bought? I chuckle only because the LS is the cheapest flagship of the leading lux brands.

Bosshog, only 1 Lexus in my household. My point is that this guy (lexworld) automatically assumes I am bashing when I am just stating the facts. He talks about Lexus and Toyota like he was their spokesperson and was getting paid by them. Yes, everytime I walk into the dealership for whatever reason, they see me as a potential client since I already have a history with them (Brumos). I own one Lexus and don't talk as much smack as someone that probably doesn't own one. When this guy experiences the entire process, from buying, ownership and service issues, then I would seriously listen to his opinion. The other clown knowitall sells them for a living, tell me there is no conflict of interest there. And yes, I bought it because it was the cheapest flagship available and received $7,500 in incentives.
