Do YOU Use A Smartphone Cradle/Mount AND WHICH Do YOU Think Is BEST?
With the invent of the almighty smartphones, once only available on our desktops has been put into the palm of our hands. It sounds cliche but now, more than ever, our phones are essentially the gateway to so many different facets of our lives. It's remarkable.

That said, with utopia comes dystopia.

I think if you were to look at any distracted driving statistics you'd notice some sort of correlation with accidents and deaths since the rise of the smartphone. Whether folks are programming directions into their apps or trying to text a bud, we're not living with more dangerous roads.

Of course this assumes you're holding it in your hand. Since cars and mobile devices came together there's been manufacturers for cradles and mounts to make everything a bit safer.

All of this said, we're a bit curious:

Do YOU use a smartphone cradle or mount?

If so, WHICH do YOU think is best?

Personally, I don't use it. I put my phone on the passenger seat and leave it there until I reach my destination. Just me, though.

Yes, I use one. I think ProClip is the best.

When given the choice, get one that mounts the phone as high on the dashboard as possible. My current one puts the top of the phone just above the top of the dash.

I have the Ram Mount ram-a-can since I travel a good bit and need something flip in and out of rental cars. Pleased with it. I think they are all a little odd though and prefer the convenience of pairing my phone whenever possible.

Have Nav and Bluetooth interface in the CC and the RX. So no real need. Everything is on the car display

Indeed, I use an empty cup-holder and just charge the phone in it. I am a big proponent for built-in dash navigation systems.

Yep, my phone will rarely come off my hip. The one exception is a traffic app specific to Seattle. Since it can be refreshed at any time, and the data comes straight from the state Dept of Transportation, I have an immediate and accurate picture of the traffic ahead. All I need is a quick glance and I set the phone right back down. The screen on my Nokia 920 is large enough that I don't need much time to see what I need. I've considered some sort of mount, but isn't worth the effort since all other phone functions are handled with Bluetooth.

I've never seen any other traffic information, either built into my car nav or part of some map app on my phone, have much accuracy. SiriusXM traffic in my nav is a joke. The refresh rate is too slow for rapidly changing traffic, which is all we have around here. Most phone apps seem to have the same issue.
