I have to say that while I used to be a HUGE BMW fan, my lust has cooled in recent years. After introducing bloated beasts like the 5-Series Gran Turismo, I mean, can you really blame me?
It was like dating a beautiful girl, you take her home and you then find out she wets the bed. It kinda ruins the whole shebang.
But after years of products that left me lukewarm — with several exceptions — I think BMW is about to build its best product in sometime. Of course we won't know until the ride and drive but it is really shaping up to be something spectacular.
And for the purists that keep whining about the nomenclature change to M4, who cares?
It's a BMW, it sounds killer, it has a six-cylinder motor and it's going to lighter and have more torque. Now if BMW switches the steering to electric it could get dicey but in my opinion Porsche figured it out and I doubt BMW would let that slide.
