Jeep Dealer Claiming Wrangler Will Get ENTIRE Re-Design For 2014. Are You Buying This Or Ploy To Get Website Traffic?
We we go this morning.  An anonymous tip just flashed across my desk that a Jeep dealership is claiming that the 2014 Wrangler will be a complete redesign.  As you already know the Wrangler had a fresh back in 2010 but was essentially unchanged underneath since 2006. And while I think a lot is speculation in the ad in general, simply due to the timing, we would welcome an all new Wrangler into the fold.

But something just isn't right here..

So we turn to you, the best of the best. Is this a bogus ploy for web hits or inside information leaked online?

Here is a quick summary from the dealer site.

Special thanks to a Wranglerforum.com reader for the tipoff

What to Expect from the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

While it will be completely redesigned for the 2014 release, drivers can expect a lot more of the same great strong, reliable performance they have come to appreciate from the Wrangler. The engine used in the 2013 release was a 3.6L V6 that made 285 hp; the 2014 release is expected to be powered by a similar V6, although an increase in power output is likely.

Transmission choices for 2013 were a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic. The 2014 model will almost certainly continue to offer a manual transmission although the standard automatic may be omitted in favor of a continuously-variable model. CVTs offer a smoother driving experience and help keep the engine in its peak power band longer to improve fuel efficiency.

The 2014 Wrangler will continue to deliver the engaging off-road driving capabilities that have helped to propel its popularity. A new exterior design scheme is in the works and aerodynamic adjustments should also help to improve fuel economy over the 2013 release. A pickup version is expected to be revealed soon too, which will take the versatility of this storied utility vehicle to a whole new level.

I believe it. There are actually some solid diesel rumors (what i've been waiting for) and people at jeep have been quoted saying that a diesel would be introduced with complete redesign. This model has largely been around (aside from engine and interior upgrades) since 2007. I think a 2015 model is more likely since we are well into 2013 but crazier things have happened. As good as the current versions are, there is always room for improvement. One of these with a long cruising range and torque rich diesel like they have in the Grand Cherokee is a very attractive option. Would also make 001's recent purchase gain value ;)

They better keep the two solid axles. CVT ah, no.

Agreed on the CVT. No way that would sit well with jeep faithful. Then again... manual is the way to go in these things anyway.

Why Would a Dealer Know when a Redesigned Wrangler would be Released? This News has already been covered a few times By the Wrangler Engineer and another time by the CEO of the Company.....No Truck for Jeep to Compete with it's own , RAM, which is a Name of it's Own Now....No 2014 Redesign, doesn't make sense to yet....Transmission will have to change first, as All chrysler products will do. and diesel doesn't make anymore sense either right now....Diesel is high, hard to find, US Emission requirements too costly and few more reason to try and sell a Wrangler for what a Grand Cherokee sells for loaded....Stop/Start will be in Wrangler...8 Speed Tranny etc will be in Wrangler before others because of MPG needs....Most of anything out of WranglerForum is 99% incorrect...

Report: Jeep’s CEO said diesel Wrangler may come by 2015-2016, confirms Grand Wagoneer revival:
Posted: Mar 05, 2013
WardsAuto reported last week that Jeep’s CEO Mike Manley has reportedly said that the Jeep Wrangler could see a diesel powerplant by 2015-2016.

“Wrangler is on the radar to get (a) diesel. Remember we’re also going through the product change of Wrangler for 2015-16. That will probably be the right time to introduce the diesel into that vehicle,” Manley told WardsAuto.

“I’m confident that the Grand Cherokee will show just how large a demand there is for diesel, and I think what that will do is reinforce the need for us to target Wrangler as a vehicle that can take a diesel.”
