Will 540+ HP In A GT-R Nismo - Be Enough To Play With The Big Boys?
The first Nissan GT-R Nismo prototype has begun testing, and is expected to be unveiled at November's Tokyo motor show.

Nissan's executive vice president Andy Palmer confirmed he had driven the prototype in Japan, but declined to reveal technical details beyond saying it will be "the fastest GT-R ever".

The GT-R Nismo is known to have been developed with substantial input from Nissan's Nismo race team, which competes in the Japanese Super GT race series.

The GT-R already plays with the big boys. It bests a fair number of them.

And even the stock one has that much horsepower so the headline is confusing.

Actually... The headline is Just Stupid!

The Nissan GT-R is already world-class in every performance category. so it's not about 'playing with' anymore... It's About Whipping Butt and Taking Names!

the regular GT-R seems to fare pretty well against the "big boys" already. Which ones are you saying it doesn't hold up against?

The stock Nissan GT-R pretty Destroy most of it competitions in performance, price, fuel economy and reliability as well. You got to give the Nissan GT-R credit for being is very reliable and do NOT catch on fire like other super cars that cost 2 or 10 times as much.

The stock 2014 Nissan does 0-62 in 2.7s (so 0-60 has to be in the 2.5 to 2.6s range.) that is absolutely insane performance. And lap around the Nurburgring in 7:18.6s. Hater is always going to give excuses.

More HP to the GTR + price increases = less sales.

By 2015 this car will be faster than a jet, but slow as a turtle sales wise.

At this time I'm wondering what's the point of increasing the horsepower every 4-6 months and building all these variants which are just other ways of "increasing the horsepower"? Nissan has already proven this car outplays the big boys.

They have to figure out a way to implement this technology into something that will help develop Infiniti's brand.

GT-R used to retail for $75K only 4 years ago. Now it has blossomed into a very expensive $125K car. This price point is well out of the reach of the typical sports car aficionado. Oh yes, it easily plays with the "big boys."
