Here's a better look at the back cover of the magazine's VW Rabbit ad...

That is some clever advertising, VW's new ad agency has had some great ads lately.

Well, they have to disguise the fact that the Rabbit is just the non-selling Golf with a new badge.

Kudos, though. A very inventive ad. I also enjoy the TV spot where a white and black Rabbit supposed chase each other and mate, producing many gray Rabbits. Especially interesting is the appearance of a Rabbit with mismatched black, gray and white panels, which reminds me of that crazy, multicolored Benetton edition Golf a few years back.

It doesn't sell great here because every one needs a sedan. But it is the best selling vehicle in Europe. It has sold millions, probably over 20 millions.

Yeah, I like the current Golf/Rabbit. The GTI looks hot. I wish people would consider more than a sedan or SUV to get some diversity out there. There's only so many ways you can do 4 doors.

BMWexpert likes the big butts, ha? Colt45 commercials would be better for you, then. :)

In a way I sympathize with VW.

They have the prestigious brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lambo and Bugatti, but not many apart the auto insiders even know this, sadly.

But to make their VW baseline more "sexy," they are borrowing a page from MTV with T&A marketing techniques. I guess whatever works.
