The new 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition for the U.S. market has a price tag of US$115,710. Nissan North America, Inc. said that with the Track Edition, it hopes to take the street supercar even nearer to being a pure motorsports competition machine.

So now it's directly competing with the ZR1 and SRT Viper. Give it a couple more years and it'll be going against the top of the line 911 models. Except that it's a GTR so it has like 1/10th the public appeal. Way too expensive.

Do you follow the performance car market? The GT-R already goes against the top of the line 911 models. Depending on the driver and circuit, it usually wins.

I think you have me confused with someone who thinks "competition" between car purchases is based entirely on the Nurburgring or the Top Gear test track. >_> No by "directly competing" I am talking about PRICE as well as performance. On performance yes it's fast (though let's be honest it does not "usually win" but it goes toe to toe well enough), but back when it cost $90 and below it was a good deal. At $115k+ it has all of the track cred with none of the on-street appeal and I submit it actually looks CHEAPER than it is! That's the biggest crime of them all.
