Would You Ever Bond With An Autonomous Car?

How will customers form an emotional bond with cars that drive themselves, and where will designers hide the huge number of new sensors and electronics autonomous vehicles will use?

Those are a couple of the questions a panel of design experts is likely to address at the Detroit Athletic Club Thursday.

“We could end up with cars that have really thick roofs, because of all the sensors, and the need to place them high up so the car has a 360-degree” field of view, said Jim Hall, managing director of 2953 Analytics in Birmingham and one of the panelists who will address journalists at an Automotive Press Association luncheon.

A myriad other features we take for granted today may change as vehicles move on their own.

Like all technology advancement, many of us will be conditioned to accept the new features and lose sight of the old features. Some of us will not forget but would probably be in the minority. Remember the days when we did home repairs ourselves, or do garden work or enjoy the garden, etc. Now, many of us are conditioned to not learn how to use our hands too much, how we accept small houses with no garden, while enjoying the alternatives.

"Would You Ever Bond With An Autonomous Car?"

That depends, is it called HAL-9000?

Actually it doesn't. If people do not want to be involved in the transportation mechanics themselves why not just take a taxi or a public form of transportation?

The govt doesn't want autonomous cars. Think of all the $$$ they'd lose on traffic violations. They will never put a strain on revenue.
