Ford Fusion Hybrid to Blow Away 2012 Sales Mark And Is Out Pacing Camry Hybrid For Year
Ford Motor Co., seeking to challenge Toyota Motor Corp.s dominance in gasoline-electric vehicles, said it will pass its full-year record for U.S. hybrid sales this month on demand for its Fusion and C-Max models.

Hybrid deliveries for Ford reached a monthly record 8,481 in April, bringing the total this year to 29,561, said Erich Merkle, U.S. sales analyst for the Dearborn, Michigan-based company. Ford’s annual record for such sales was 35,496 in 2010.

Good for Ford. Handsome car, better fuel economy than its petrol cousin, and its price isn't outlandish. As long as we continue to get more choices for hybrid buyers, I'm all for it. That is not to imply that I hate the Prius because I don't, I just like more choices and the accompanying pressure for these mfrs to keep their price competitive.

It isn't just price that is competitive, they are at each others throats to claim they have the best MPG. Competition also serves to drive innovation.

The latest Fusion isn't an unattractive car, but to my eye the character line running from the headlights to the rear of the car makes it look oddly proportioned and robs it of some visual excitement.

Partially this comes from the aforementioned line being placed too high on the body.

It's a pity because while I commend Ford's designers for going their own way (never mind that it looks like a love child with Aston Martin) their designs – particularly for cars – lean towards utilitarianism.

Like the Flex. I like what they were trying to do – create a vehicle that can comfortably transport six or so full-sized humans – though the way they solved the problem (it's essentially a box, and looks like it) leaves much to be desired.
