Audi Outsells BMW Brand Globally For 2nd Time in 4 months

Audi has won rounds two and four of its 12-round fight with BMW brand, but the world luxury-car champ is still ahead on the overall scorecard.

Audi outsold BMW brand by 4,474 units in January and by 2,902 vehicles in April, according to the data from the companies.

BMW brand beat Audi by 4,908 units in February and 11,495 vehicle sales in March.

After four months, BMW brand leads Audi 512,000 to 503,000.

In the United States, BMW division sales rose 7 percent to 88,127 vehicles during the first four months. Audi sales rose 16 percent 47,343.

The race should remain tight for the rest of the year. Audi just started local production of the Q3 SUV in China, where there is a strong demand for compact crossovers.

BMW expects a boost from the arrival of the 3-series Gran Turismo as well as continued strong global sales for the sedan and wagon versions of the 3 series.

If you're wondering where Mercedes-Benz brand stands after four months, the automaker has sold 441,464 vehicles, leaving it a distant third. But in the United States, Mercedes sales are up 11 percent to 98,511 vehicles -- including 5,689 Sprinter vans. The U.S. market, as a whole, is up 7 percent through April.

With regards to your article, yes, there are lots of cars still to be launched this year by all the Germans. BMW still has the 2 series, 4 series and X5 to add to more 3 series variants, the X5 is very popular and outsells the Q7 by a large margin.

Mercedes could see big sales of the s-class depending on when it is actually launched, even the previous version was outselling newer versions of the 7 Series and A8.

Firewombat, I was thanking the Agents for posting my article, which was correct and not misleading like the Mercedes outselling BMW and Audi article.

I find it hilarious that you think Satrian1 and I are the same person. If you actually did some research and checked the time stamps you would see that Satrian1 and I are not the same person. We share the same passion for Audi and share it with the Autospies community.

Just because you can't tolerate our continuous use of factual data and publishing of articles that are in support of Audi doesn't mean you need to attack us thinking we are the same person.

It's sad that your attack is simply saying we are the same person using two different accounts. How about you stick to the topic of Audi vs. BMW.

I care about the auto industry generally, but obviously I care more about Audi in comparison to BMW and Mercedes-Benz (The Big German 3).

I come to this site to read news about everything that is happening in the auto industry, to comment about how I feel about design, reliability, driving experience, brand enthusiasm etc.

Not to get involved in flame wars with Audi Fanboys, or any other kind of Fanboy. By definition that means someone who is closed-minded. Someone that can only love one brand and only hate others.

If someone posts something and I don't like it I'll say so. When someone trolls the site looking for any opportunity to post the same repetitive info, that's starts getting annoying.

You say you're here to counter BMW fanboys who you think ruined the site and insulted your brand. Imagine how many people feel that way about you? You have become the person you claim you started your campaign against.

"Why can't everyone see the brand I like is so awesome?" That's not a great place to start. But that's just my opinion.

BimmersNme, it's not so much desperately waiting for Audi to become the world's best-selling premium brand as it is for the world to recognize that Audi is no longer that "other" German brand in the shadow of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which is the unfortunate label Audi had received for many years.

I have no doubt that Audi will overtake BMW just as it has overtaken Mercedes-Benz. When you are backed by a huge automotive conglomerate like Volkswagen Auto Group and can share platforms, research and development and parts from many other luxury brands, most notably Porsche and Bentley, which reduces the cost of production, you will undoubtedly win against an independent company that has higher production
costs and less in the way of sharing ideas, innovation and technologies across brands.

For Audi, being able to call itself the "world's best-selling premium brand" will go a long way in silencing the naysayers and critics, many of which are BMW fanboys, who continue to show disrespect for the Audi brand.
