Feds Proposed DUI Standards Effectively Limit Women To One Drink, But Men Get Two

A National Transportation Safety Board recommendation to lower the legal limit on drunken driving would save hundreds of lives annually, the NTSB said.
The new limits — a blood-alcohol content of 0.05 percent or lower, compared to the current 0.08 percent — would put a small woman near the brink after just one drink in an hour. A medium-sized man would be there after two.
Such a crackdown, which would require approval by Congress and states, would criminalize the driving of hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of drivers.
Despite the expected opposition, the NTSB, whose board approved the proposal on a 5-0 vote Tuesday, is confident.
