STUD OR DUD? BMW Previews V12 Pininfarina Gran Lusso Concept

BMW traditionally designs its own production and concept cars in-house, but has lately been seeking some outside influence. At last year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este (which the Bavarian automaker incidentally sponsors), BMW revealed a concept based on the Z4 created in partnership with Zagato. And at this year’s Concorso, it will unveil a new concept designed with Pininfarina. Previewed in this set of teaser renderings, the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe concept.

A 7 series-based coupé will be very interesting indeed. It will probably share its platform with the future RR Wraith.

Can't tell much from snippets of any artist renderings, which tend to look more sexy, sleek and aerodynamic than the actual product in order to promote hope. It's interesting that there's no snippet of the front end -- any car's beauty is strongly influenced by how the front end looks.

Audi will likely have a beautiful A9/S9/RS9 starting 2016 -- based on its consistent track record with the TT, S5, S7 and R8.

Mercedes already has its CL-Class based on its S-Class sedan (I think the $213,000 CL65 AMG Coupe is the most expensive Mercedes car). There's money to be made in this segment.
